This ain't the most current of issues, but wasn't there a bit of a hooha when George at Asda decided to stock UK size 4 (US size 0)? Clothes for large women seem easier to find in this country. I hate going into a shop at 4pm to find that anything below size 10 are taken. I'm a UK size 6 but I'm not a rail, and I eat more than Les the bassist. With immigration and hence more variety of women with sizes that come below (or above) the Western average, there is a genuine case for smaller sizes in shops. Bring it on!
It's just as hard for us "slim" men - most clothes shops start at 30" waist for trousers, which is no good for me as I'm a 28" waist. Then t-shirts are a problem 'cos small on me looks like a tent. Only places like TopMan seem to have XS - which fits me lovely.
Sadly retailers are going to continue the focus on larger sizes because we are a nation of lazy, junk food eating fatties!
